Wagner Equipment Co., the Caterpillar dealer for Colorado, New Mexico and far west Texas, is seeking applications for a Lead Oil Lab Technician.  The Lead Oil Lab Technician for the Fluids Lab is responsible for keeping the sample processing running smoothly on a daily basis.



  • Ensures general supplies inventory is done on time so the lab doesn't run out of operating supplies
  • Ensures that routine maintenance is performed on lab equipment to help control repair costs
  • Maintains spare parts inventory as needed
  • Makes sure the computers are backed up on a regular basis for the computer-driven equipment
  • Monitors contract coverage of machines covered by service contracts to be sure there are no gaps in coverage
  • Maintains the lab equipment logs that provide documentation
  • Arranges for service calls if needed
  • Maintains time records, as requested, to track labor hours and related topics within the lab
  • Assists with general housekeeping 


  • Coordinates with the Evaluator to be sure all positions have enough coverage to meet the 24 hour turn-around commitment to our customers


  • Works with equipment suppliers to get back to normal operation when equipment is not functioning properly
  • Trains technicians on correct lab procedures and monitor the quality of their work


  • Troubleshoots performance problems with the scientific equipment
  • Ensures that the test equipment is calibrated in compliance with the established schedule
  • Assists in getting the daily technical work done, when needed 


  • Sets shift times and makes work assignments for technicians


Minimum Education Required:  High School Diploma or GED

Minimum Experience Required: Three years' experience with fluids lab work    

Administrative / Clerical Experience - Intermediate level                                                  

Customer Service Experience - Intermediate level                                                                                                                       

Supervisory/Mgmt Experience - Basic level                                                         

Technical or Mechanical - Intermediate level
